Support and encourage projects that contribute to achieving annual objectives of the Council and Long Term Plans, such as community events and activities that contribute to the social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being of Kaikōura; non-profit making, voluntary community groups that encourage public education.
Writing tips
The funder uses 'hapori' (community) and expects applicants to demonstrate they have researched local need by speaking with the community to gain guidance and feedback on how the activity/project/event will benefit the community.
Common mistakes to avoid
Applicants must provide evidence of researching local need with intended audience, users and/or providers. Failure to demonstrate community consultation and feedback will weaken applications.
What makes a strong application
Projects that enrich the community with educational, entertainment, cultural or creative opportunities that the community would not otherwise have access to are prioritised. Successful applications include supporting material such as quotes and price lists to validate budgets.

Budget
Include material supporting your project application including quotes and/or price lists to validate your budget. Eligible costs include personnel costs for one-off, short-term projects; administration and operational costs; donation towards entry fee; donation towards venue hire.
