What they care about

Council partners with Creative New Zealand to promote, support and increase participation in community arts and cultural activities in the Waipā district. Arts projects must support at least one of: Access and participation, Diversity, or Young people.

Writing tips

The funder emphasises 'creative outcomes where people can directly participate in or experience creative activity.' Use language around community participation and arts focus rather than facility development or sectoral outcomes.

Common mistakes to avoid

Projects without an arts focus, projects within the scope of other sectors, projects that mainly deliver outcomes for other sectors, and projects to develop facilities are ineligible. Applicants must also complete and submit the Project Completion Report within two months of project completion before future funding will be considered.

What makes a strong application

Successful projects have clear creative outcomes with direct community participation or experience. Past funded examples include murals, music workshops, film festivals, and pottery exhibitions. Ensure appropriate payment for people delivering the creative activity.
